GIVES
Greenbelt Intergenerational Volunteer Exchange Service
We are an all-volunteer membership organization that helps Greenbelt residents who need assistance to live independently in their own homes. All services are free.
Despite the term “intergenerational,” it is not strictly about younger people helping the elderly. It’s for anyone of any age who needs help. GIVES started with an interest in making it easier for seniors to stay in their homes as they age, and has grown to be ever more inclusive.
We help transport people to medical and other necessary appointments. We will take care of their pets if needed, stay with members who can’t be left alone so that their family can run errands. We sponsor the AARP safe driving course and tax preparation when it is available.
Please consider joining GIVES if you need services or as a volunteer who can provide those services by calling 301-507-6580.
